FLGPA TOUR - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


WHAT IS THE FLGPA TOUR?
The FLGPA Tour was extablished to provide quality stroke play golf events for male and female Professional and Amateur golfers 18 years of age and over. The Tour is affiliated with the Florida Golf Players Association (est. 2008) which is a member club of the Florida State Golf Association. The Tour is owned and operated by DCI Golf, a division of DeSilva Communications, Inc. Professionally organized tournaments are scheduled throughout the year with a Tour Champtionship held annually.

The Tour has two separate Divisions:
1. An Open Division for Male/Female Professional Golfers.
2. An Indexed Division for Male/Female Scratch & Amateur golfers.

WHO CAN JOIN THE TOUR?
Membership in the FLGPA Tour is OPTIONAL and open to ALL male and female golfers who are 18 years of age and over before participation in any given Tour event. Professional Golfers compete for a Cash Purse. Amateur Golfers compete for MC Gift Cards and/or Prize Vouchers and must have an active, verifiable USGA approved handicap index of 0 - 23.9. Amateur golfers only compete with other golfers in their flight and at their same skill level. All tournaments are Low Gross events within each Flight.

Male Professional Golfers: 6,500 - 7,000+ yards or comparable
Female Professional Golfers: 6,200 - 6,400 yards or comparable
Female Amateur Golfers: 4,800 - 5,200 yards or comparable
00 - 2.9 Champ Flight 6,200 - 6,500 yards or comparable
03 - 7.9 Platinum Flight: 6,000 - 6,200 yards or comparable
08 - 12.9 Gold Flight: 6,000 - 6,200 yards or comparable
13 - 17.9 Silver Flight: 6,000 - 6,200 yards or comparable
18 - 23.9 Bronze Flight: 6,000 - 6,200 yards or comparable

WHAT DOES IT COST TO JOIN THE TOUR?
The Annual Membership in the FLGPA Tour is $75 for Amateurs and $100 for Professionals for the 2019 Season. Membership is based on a Calendar Year. New Members joining in October, November or December, will have their first year membership valid through those months and the following year. Entry fees for each FLGPA Tour event is based on each particular golf couse, number of rounds and time of year.

DO I NEED TO JOIN THE FLGPA TOUR TO PARTICIPATE IN TOUR EVENTS?
No. Tour Membership is not mandatory to play in Tournaments on the FLGPA Tour. However, all amateur golfers wishing to participate must have a valid, verifiable USGA/GHIN Handicap Index not exceeding 23.9. If you don't have a USGA/GHIN approved handicap index, you can obtain a annual USGA/GHIN Handicap through the FLGPA. Non-members must pay the non-member entry fee at each Tour event.

Keep in mind that FLGPA Tour Members will receive a USGA/GHIN handicap with their membership, pay the lowest tournament entry fees, can obtain discounts on sponsor products and services and receive a tour player pack. Only Tour Members will be eligible to participate in the Annual FLGPA Tour Championship.

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A CURRENT HANDICAP INDEX
Amateur Golfers wishing to participate and/or join the Tour, who do not have a USGA approved handicap index, must submit atleast (5) recent scores with courses and tee markers played. If accepted and flighted for play, these golfers will be provided with a USGA/GHIN Handicap Tournament Index. Amateurs who do not have a handicap may also choose to play in up to (2) Tour events as a Guest, prior to joining the Tour. However, Amateur Guest Players are not eligible for Prizes unless they are in the Scratch/Platinum Flight. All guest players can enter and compete in the Opional Skins Games.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR A TOURNAMENT?
Visit: www.FLGPATour.FLGPA.com/tourevents.html, select the tournament you wish to participate in and Click to download the Player Entry Form. Entry Forms for each event are posted approximately 2 - 4 weeks in advance. Tour members can participate in any Tour event regardless of which division they are in.

WHAT DO I WIN?
Professionals: Prize Money for Professionals is established prior to each event with the amount dependent on the size of the field. The Tour will pay 1/3 of the field. Prize Money is paid out to all Professionals who have a Form W-9 on file with the Tour.

Amateurs: Amateurs in the Indexed Division can choose to receive their winnings in the form of MasterCard Gift Cards or Non-Cash prize vouchers. Amateurs wishing to maintain their Amateur Status with the USGA must be in compliance with the USGA guidelines and receive their winning only in Prize Vouchers. Cash for Pros or the value of each MasterCard Gift Card is established prior to the event with the amount dependent on the size of the field.
